Viikin lures are handmade in Finland.
The traditional Viikin lure is a weighted bait with a diving lip, which is perfectly suited for trolling with crankbaits and spoons. The baitfish length in the standard model is 12-13 cm and in the XL model 15-16 cm, weight 7 g. The latter is well-suited for, among other things, pike trolling. Trout and salmon are the most likely to strike traditional Viikin lures.
The trolling speed for the Viikin lure is 3.5-4.5 km/h when using baitfish. With a natural fish bait, the trolling speed can be slower while still achieving good swimming action. With a soft bait, the swimming action is greatly affected by the suppleness of the lure.
The Viikin lure works well for jigging. The Viikin lure’s hook attachment is secure, and fish hook-up rates are good with flexible hook leaders.
